Square Dancing Lessons Offered

The Independence Promenade Square Dance Club and the Chanute Do-Si-Do Club, will sponsor a series of lessons for individuals or couples who are interested in learning to square dance. In Independence, square dance lessons will be conducted from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Mondays, beginning September 8, in the Eisenhower Elementary School cafeteria at 501 Spruce Street.In Chanute, square dance lessons will be conducted from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Tuesdays, beginning September 9, at the Central Park Pavilion, 101 S Forest. Richard Verge, who has been calling and teaching for over 35 years, will be the instructor. Square dancing is good for body and mind and is the kind of exercise everyone enjoys doing – a great activity to help burn off those unwanted pounds. Square dancing has been called the perfect exercise. With its movements, square dancing provides more than the daily dose of healthy physical activity. A low impact activity, square dancing combines all the positive aspects of intense physical exercise with none of the negative elements. If you can walk, you can learn to square dance. Car Wash to Benefit Cherryvale Youth Football

Drag those dirty cars through the wash at the Cherryvale Youth Football fundraiser car wash this Saturday from 10-2 at the Cherryvale Jumpstart, located behind Slix Custom Cycles in Cherryvale. All procedds benefit the youth football league towards the purchase of new uniforms and helmets. Any donations accepted.
